Reviewers’ Responsibilities
Peer reviewers play a vital role in safeguarding the scholarly quality and credibility of the articles published by TSMIJ. Their objective and constructive feedback directly contributes to the development of academic knowledge and integrity.
To ensure a rigorous and ethical peer review process, reviewers are expected to adhere to the following responsibilities:
1. Confidentiality
-
Reviewers must treat all manuscript materials as confidential.
-
Manuscripts and related data must not be shared, used for personal research, or disclosed to third parties without explicit editorial permission.
2. Objectivity and Constructive Feedback
-
Reviews should be conducted objectively, providing clear, evidence-based, and constructive comments to help authors improve their manuscripts.
-
Criticism should focus on the content, not the author, and should be expressed respectfully.
3. Expertise and Timeliness
-
Review only manuscripts for which you have relevant expertise and can provide a high-quality evaluation.
-
Complete reviews within the agreed timeframe or notify the editorial office if unable to do so promptly.
4. Conflict of Interest
-
Declare any potential conflicts of interest (financial, institutional, personal, or academic) that could bias your judgment.
-
If such a conflict exists, decline the review request and inform the editor immediately.
5. Ethical Vigilance
-
Alert the editor to any suspected ethical issues such as plagiarism, data fabrication, or duplicate publication.
-
Highlight relevant published work that may have been omitted by the author(s) and cite it appropriately.
6. Support Academic Integrity
-
Recommend improvements that align the manuscript with academic rigor and publishing standards.
-
Encourage originality, clarity, and proper citation practices.
Reviewer Recognition
-
Review certificates are issued upon completion of each manuscript review.
-
Active reviewers may qualify for APC waivers to publish one article per volume in TSMIJ.
-
Acknowledgment may also be given on the journal’s website or annual review (upon request or with consent).
